Steven Bordley

26/10/2007

A MAN who was born and brought up in Accrington, Mr Steven Bordley, has died at his home in Connecticut, USA, aged 63.

Mr Bordley attended Hyndburn Park School before taking his apprenticeship in toolmaking at English Electric, and also worked at Mastabar for a time.

He and his wife Hazel, a former hairdresser, emigrated to America, around 35 years ago. Mr Bordley ran his own toolmaking business over there.

He made frequent trips home to see family and friends and his family also went to visit him in the USA.

His hobbies included golf and fishing.

As well as his wife, he leaves his 95-year-old mother Maud, who lives in Kirk House, Church, sisters Pat and Susan, children John and Andrew and grandchildren Mitch, Brandon and Brook.

The funeral took place in Connecticut and Mr Bordley’s ashes will be brought home at Christmas, to be scattered in the Ribble Valley where he loved to go fishing.

Our deepest sympathy to Hazel and all the family. We haven't seen Steve for a long time, and we are quite shocked. I lived on Meadoway in the 60's, and use to work with his dad, and Carole went to Hyndburn Park, same class as Susan. A very sad day. Stewart & Carole Allen (ne Walsh)
