Jack Skellern

FORMER security officer Mr John James (Jack) Skellern has died at his son’s home in Huncoat aged 85.
Mr Skellern, of Norfolk Street, Accrington, was due to be cremated at Accrington yesterday (Thursday) following a service conducted by Mr Edward Joyce.
During the war he was a train driver and he also worked for many years at Philips Components in Blackburn as a process worker. He then moved to Debenhams store in Blackburn as a security officer for some years up to his retirement.
A member of Sydney Street WMC, Accrington, he enjoyed sea fishing, playing cards and dominoes, betting on the horses, socialising and spending time on his allotment.
The husband of the late Ida, he leaves sons Jim and Ian, daughter-in-law Bernadette and grandchildren Lee and Lisa. He was also father-in-law of the late Andrea.
