Lena Dugdale

MOTHER-of-11 Mrs Lena Dugdale formerly of Blackburn Road, Accrington, has died in St Joseph’s Home, Longsight, Manchester, at the age of 89.
Born in Dunfanaghy in County Donegal, Ireland, she went to live in Blackburn towards the end of the Second World War, having met and married her Lancashire-born husband in Northern Ireland.
She was the wife of the late Bert Dugdale, bandmaster of the Hyndburn Concert band and as well as having 11 children, she had 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
For almost 50 years she was a daily worshipper at Sacred Heart Church, Accrington, just down the road from her home.
Her son, Father John, was due to celebrate a funeral mass today (Friday) at his church, Sacred Heart and St Edward in Darwen, which relatives from Sweden, America, Ireland and Scotland attended.
