Bertha Taylor

A WOMAN who owned a sweet shop in Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, for 30 years, Mrs Bertha Taylor, has died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 96.

Mrs Taylor, of Stanhill Lane, Oswaldtwistle, had previously worked as a weaver at Rhyddings Mill.

A very popular woman, she was a member of James Street Club, where she enjoyed line dancing, and she also liked baking.

She leaves her husband James, to whom she had been married for 58 years, sons John and Bill, sister-in-law Betty, daughters-in-law Teresa and Marlene, son-in-law Frank, grandchildren Susan, Steven and Anthony and great-grandchildren Abbie, Daniel, Matthew and Nicholas.

She was also the mother of the late Anne and grandmother of the late Alison.

Canon Michael Ratcliffe conducted the funeral at Accrington Crematorium on Monday.
