Alice Gilmartin

A MEMBER of Mercer Park Bowling Club in Clayton-le-Moors, Mrs Alice Gilmartin, has died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 89.

Mrs Gilmartin, of Stopford Court, Clayton, worked at Rishton Paper Mill after leaving school and later at English Electric, where she was a supervisor and canteen worker.

She was a member of the Forget-me-not Club and the arthritis and blind societies.

She was also a member of All Saints Mothers’ Union and the Churches Together group, and enjoyed watching all sport and holidays in Blackpool and Lytham.

The wife of the late Bill, Mrs Gilmartin leaves children Philip, Kevin, Jean and Joan, in-laws, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters.

The Rev John Tranter conducted a service in All Saints Church yesterday before cremation at Accrington.
