Christine Nicholson

SENIOR occupational therapist Mrs Christine Nicholson has died at her home in Sussex Road, Rishton, aged 53.

She started her career at Sharoe Green Hospital, Preston, in 1975 and then transferred to the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley NHS Trust, working from Great Harwood Health Centre as a domiciliary therapist.

She also worked for a spell at Clitheroe Hospital and Park Lee Hospital, Blackburn, where she specialised in the treatment of stroke patients.

She then moved to Queen’s Park Hospital, Blackburn, where she took early retirement in 2005 due to ill health.

She was a member of the JJB sports dome in Blackburn and enjoyed quilt-making, walking her border collie Meg, caring for her family and socialising with friends.

She leaves her husband David, children Claire and Laura, father Gerald and a sister Kath.

Father Martin Dowd conducted a funeral service at St Charles’ RC Church, Rishton, on Wednesday before cremation at Accrington.
