MR ALBERT (Bert) Watson of Lowergate Road, Huncoat, has died aged 70 in Chorley General Hospital.

On leaving school, bachelor Mr Watson went to work at Ewbank Sweepers as a joiner for many years until the factory closed down. He then went to work at Redac Brickworks in Huncoat where he worked on the production line, again for a number of years until its closure.

After this he had various jobs including a courier and forklift truck driver, which he did up to his retirement.

He was a member of the darts team at a local working men’s club and in his youth was connected with the Salvation Army. Later he had connections with St Augustine’s Church, Huncoat.

Mr Watson enjoyed reading, watching darts on TV, country and western music and going for days out to the coast, particularly Blackpool.

He leaves siblings Bryan, Doris and Laura, in-laws Max and Elsie and was the brother-in-law of the late James and the late Richard.

He will be cremated at Accrington on Tuesday following a service conducted by the Rev Roger Parker.

Arrangements: Hyndburn Funeral Services.
