Edith Marsden

MRS Edith (Edi) Marsden of St Leger Court, Accrington, has died aged 87 at her daughter’s home in Rishton.

The wife of the late James Ernest, she worked at Higham’s Mill, Woodnook, for many years as a weaver and then later in life worked in the kitchen at Accrington Victoria Hospital. In her younger days she played netball for Higham’s mill team.

A devoted family woman, she enjoyed watching TV, reading and doing puzzles and provided comfort, support and food to various friends and neighbours.

She leaves children Lynda and Sandra, sons-in-law Stephen and Tony, grandchildren Natalie and Tim and great-grandchild Nicholas. She was also a sister and an aunt.

She was buried at Accrington on Wednesday 18 June following a service conducted by the Rev William Grady.
