Donald Watson-Parke

FORMER coach driver Mr Donald Watson-Parke has died aged 70 in the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

On leaving school, Mr Watson-Parke, of Kirk House, Tanpits Road, Church, worked for a short time as a roofer and slater before doing his National Service in Germany for two years where he learned to drive HGVs.

Returning to Accrington, he began driving for Woodwards Haulage in the town and remained there for a few years.

He then progressed to coach driving, working for a number of operators including Robinsons of Great Harwood and Fraser Eagle.

He took a great pride in his coach driving and loved his job.

A member of the Royal British Legion and also the Canine and Pioneer WMCs, he loved watching football and horse racing and socialising with family and friends.

The brother of Vera, Joyce and June, he was also the brother of the late Jack and the late Robert. He was also a brother-in-law and uncle.

He will be cremated at Accrington on Monday 23 June following a service conducted by Father Neville Ashton.
