Brian Ellis

FORMER HGV driver Thomas Brian Ellis, known as Brian, has died in the intensive care unit at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. He was 72.

The husband of Mary, he lived in Woodside Road, Huncoat.

After his two years’ National Service in the south of England, he returned to Accrington to work for the railways as a fireman based at the Charter Street sidings for a number of years. He then took a year off to visit Canada and on his return trained as a chef and worked in many local restaurants.

His last job was as a HGV driver for Fagan and Whalley Transport in Hapton, which took him all over the country. He worked there for many years up to his retirement.

Devoted family man Mr Ellis was a member of Burnley Road and Peel Park Bowling Clubs, and his hobbies included collecting pocket watches, going to antique fairs and country music.

He leaves children Beverly, Bronwyn and Michael, brother David, grandchildren Ryan, Jordan, Sebastian and Conor and was a brother-in-law.

He is due to be buried at Accrington on Friday 27 June following a service in the crematorium chapel conducted by the Rev Roger Parker.
