Muriel Wilson

MRS Muriel May Wilson, known as Mim, of Ambleside Close, Huncoat, has died in Church View Nursing Home aged 81.

Married to Noel Edward Wilson since 1952, she was born in Haywood Road, Accrington, the eldest of three children.

She went to St John’s School, Accrington, prior to attending the then Central School.

She worked in the complaints department of the Co-op Laundry in West End, Oswaldtwistle, where one of her colleagues was Mrs Alice Haines, a former Alderman and Mayor of Accrington.

On her marriage she went to live in Huncoat where she spent the rest of her life.

She enjoyed holidays in Devon, Cornwall and South Wales and in her younger days like to go dancing at Accrington "Con’’ Club. She also enjoyed visiting different market towns on Saturdays with her sister-in-law Mary Wilson and Mary’s sister Betty.

As well as husband Noel, she leaves a brother Derek in South Africa, and younger sister Jean, plus nephews and nieces.

She was cremated at Accrington on Monday 14 July following a service conducted by the Rev George Billington, former vicar at St Augustine’s Church, Huncoat.
