Glenyis Beckett Day

FORMER stewardess Mrs Glenyis Beckett Day, of Plantation Road, Accrington, has died inthe Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 78.
Mrs Day formerly worked at Highams Mill as a sheet cutter and was heavily involved as secretary of the Dyers, Bleaches and Finishers Union.
She was stewardess of the Poplar Working Men’s Club in the 1960s with her late husband Jack.
She also served on the committee at the Canine Working Men’s Club where she was a member.
Mrs Day was a keen crown green bowler and enjoyed knitting, cake decorating, caravanning and holidaying abroad with her family.
She leaves sons Bob and Steve, daughters-in-law Betty and Dot, grandchildren Sharon, Lynsey, Paul, Mark and Helen and great-grandchildren Lianne, Jade, Lewis, Courtney, Emma, Millie and Jack.
Her funeral was held on Wednesday 20 August when Father Roger Parker conducted a service and cremation at Accrington.
