Eric Haigh

A FORMER secretary of Accrington Rotary Club, Mr Eric Haigh, has died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 76.
Mr Haigh, of Sutton Crescent, Huncoat, worked at S W Allen’s opticians in Accrington before opening his own practice in Wellgate, Clitheroe, from which he retired through ill health.
He was also an honorary member and past president of Clitheroe Rotary Club and a former Freemason.
In his younger days he was a keen photographer and loved to go ballroom dancing with his wife.
He was always interested in driving and was a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists.
More recently, when mostly housebound, he enjoyed TV and listening to music, and kept his mind alert by doing crosswords.
He leaves his wife Pat, daughter Jane, son Paul, daughter-in-law Alison and grandsons James, Joseph and Thomas.
The funeral took place at Accrington Crematorium on Wednesday 3 September.
