Fred Killaway

A MEMBER of the Accrington and District Blind Society, Mr Fred Killaway, has died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 57.
Mr Killaway, of Lord Street, Oswaldtwistle, was a former bingo caller at Empire Bingo on Blackburn Road, Accrington.
He also had various jobs at Sterling Dog Foods, Spenby and Beattie and, just before his retirement, in the stores at Fairclough’s in Huncoat.
He was forced to give up work through illness and going blind.
In his younger days Mr Killaway was a member of the St Paul’s Church Choir and loved playing snooker.
He was a member of several clubs and enjoyed a pint in the Spinning Jenny. He also loved his music, enjoying rock and roll and Daniel O’Donnell.
He would go every day to the Hyndburn Resource Centre and made friends with everybody, becoming known as Little Jimmy Clitheroe of Ossie.
He leaves his mother Olive, sisters Kathleen and Margaret and brother Keith.
He was the son of the late Thomas, brother of the late Robert, and brother-in-law of Ted, Keith and Sharon.
Canon Michael Ratcliffe conducted a funeral service in St Paul’s Church, Oswaldtwistle, on Monday 1 September before burial in Immanuel churchyard.
