Harry Duffy

22/ 9/2008

ACCRINGTON-born Mr Harry Duffy, who died suddenly last month, has been cremated in Lancaster.

Born in the town in 1935, he moved to Oswaldtwistle as a young boy and was educated at Rhyddings School.

He started work as a joiner, did National Service in Germany from 1953 to 1955 and then returned to the building trade until ill health forced his early retirement.

He did a lot of voluntary work throughout his life, mainly with the Royal British Legion and the Oswaldtwistle Youth Group.

He and his wife Maureen moved to the Morecambe area in his latter years because they thought it would benefit his health.

A happy man with a wicked sense of humour, he had four children, Garry, Marion, Adelle and the late Mark.

He also leaves grandchildren André, Tara, David, Kelly, Joy, Sammy, Natasha, Gary and Dean and six great- grandchildren.
