John Jenkinson

A MAN who took part in the D-Day landings in the Second World War with the East Lancashire Regiment has died aged 86.
Married to Phyllis for 62 years, Mr John (Jack) Jenkinson of Avenue Parade, Accrington, died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
In his younger days he enjoyed dancing, walking, DIY, reading, watching football and big band music.
He worked as an estimating clerk at Stotts of Haslingden and also at Mullards in Blackburn and Ewbank Works, Accrington.
After his retirement he enjoyed many family holidays and celebrated his diamond wedding anniversary two years ago.
He also leaves children Christine and Diane, son-in-law Les and grandchildren John and Chris.
He was cremated at Accrington on Tuesday 14 October following a service conducted by Father David Lyon.
