Connie Ward

A WOMAN who shared her golden wedding anniversary year with the Queen and Prince Philip has died aged 84.

Mrs Connie Ward, of First Avenue Church, spent her working life in various clerical roles at Bolton Co-op, Howard and Bullough and other local businesses.

During the Second World War she served in the ATS in the Army Pay Corps.

She was a member of Woodnook Ladies Fellowship, and enjoyed meals out with family and friends in Ribble Valley.

The wife of the late Fred, she attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace with her husband to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and was presented to the Queen.

Mrs Ward leaves sons David and Keith, daughters-in-law Barbara and June, granddaughters Louise, Jennie, Katy and Carla and great-grandchildren Isobelle, James and Frankie.

She will be cremated at Accrington on Monday following a service conducted by the Rev Roy Parker.
