Josephine George

A WOMAN who had been married for 53 years has died at her home in Spring Hill at the age of 76.

Mrs Josephine Philomena George, known as Phil, was the wife of Richard and the daughter of the late Josephine and Edward McCaffrey.

For many years she worked at Fenners, formerly Mastabar, and then for 10 years as a home help.

A member of St Mary’s RC Church, Oswaldtwistle, she loved playing bingo, doing jigsaws and playing cards.

Over the years she had owned many animals. Born in Ireland, she spent all her life in the Spring Hill area of Accrington.

She leaves children Anthony, Bernadette, Vincent, Martin, Sheila and Susan, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Gerald and sister-in-law June. She was the sister-in-law of Derek and Jean and Jean McCaffrey.

She will be cremated at Accring-ton on Wednesday following a service at St Mary’s Church, Oswaldtwistle, conducted by Father John Daly.
