FORMER storeman Mr William Warburton, of White Ash Brook Nursing Home, Oswaldtwistle, has died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 60.

Mr Warburton, known as Bill, left school at 15 and began work at a local slipper factory. He then worked at Porritt and Spencer in Haslingden as a general labourer for a few years. He also worked for the water board, based in Whalley, as a pipe layer for some time before moving to Howard and Bullough’s in Accrington where he worked as a storeman for approximately 15 years.

He was linked to Platt’s Social Club, Accrington, and was a member of the former Irish Democratic League Club in Haslingden.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching war films on television, reading, doing crosswords, DIY, listening to music, dancing and working on his computer.

He leaves wife Barbara, sister Christine and was the brother of the late Maureen. He was also a brother-in-law, uncle and a good friend to many.

His funeral was on Wednesday when Father Martin Saunders conducted a service followed by burial at Accrington.
