FAMILY butcher Mr Walter Ollett, of Ribblesdale Avenue, Accrington, has died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 91.

Mr Ollett, who served in Q Sannas Post anti tank battery with the Royal Artillery during the Second World War, ran Ollett’s butchers in Whalley Road, Accrington, for a number of years.

He was an active member of Oak Hill bowling club, Accrington, and a member of the former Unitarian Church in Accrington.

In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, socialising, spending time with his family and serving on the committee organising events with Accrington Conservative Club and the Butchers’ Association.

He leaves his wife Dorothy, children Dorothy, Kathleen, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Walter.

He was cremated at Accrington last Thursday.
