The Paper
The Accrington Observer grew in the town's Victorian hey day and has been the title to read ever since. The Life entertainment section, Homesearch property supplement and extra pagination that covers news on the smaller towns and villages surrounding Accrington have brought the newspaper new strengths.

The Market
Accrington is a flourishing town at the centre of the borough of Hyndburn. The thriving town centre, known for its free car parking, combines traditional shopping streets with a Victorian arcade and a modern Arndale Centre.

There are out of town retail sites, particularly the site at Whitebirk, and each of the surrounding communities has its own neighbourhood shopping centre.

From the manufacture of greeting cards to bricks and in particular with the fast expanding industrial estate at Altham, the area has a prosperous and diverse industrial base.

Leisure facilities include the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, regarded as the best in North East Lancashire. The Haworth Art Gallery has a famous collection of Tiffany Glass.

There has been very extensive house building at Baxenden in recent years, making this a prime commuter area. The North of the borough merges with the Ribble Valley, which offers several desirable residential areas.

Communication Links
The M65 motorway gives Accrington fast connections to the neighbouring towns of Blackburn and Burnley (Now only minutes away), and to the M6.

The Accrington By-pass, which becomes the M66, is the quick route to Manchester and the M62.

The town has excellent rail access, from Blackpool and Preston to Bradford and Leeds
