Four tutors from Accrington and Rossendale College have been acknowledged for their contribution and dedication to education and learners by receiving Royal invites to Buckingham Palace.

Lee Hyatt, Christine Brand, Marc Smith and Eileen Melling have all been invited to attend the Royal Garden Party in May. They were nominated by the Association of Colleges based on feedback given by their learners and colleagues.

The garden party is one of a number hosted by the Queen to celebrate achievements throughout the UK with people from all walks of life who have made a significant contribution in their field.

Christine, who teaches Travel and Tourism, said: “I am extremely honoured and excited to receive an invitation to such a prestigious event.

“I am also delighted that my colleagues felt my work deserved this level of recognition.

“I am taking my mother who is just as excited as me. We are looking forward to the experience.”

Principal Sue Taylor said: “All four nominations are very well deserved, and it is fantastic to see their outstanding contribution and achievements recognised in this way.”
