Gardening equipment and car batteries have been stolen from stables.

Burglars climbed onto the roofs of the secured buildings on Harwood Road in Rishton before forcing entry overnight on Tuesday, May 24.

Police said a number of insecure buildings were also entered with several horse saddles being removed and placed outside, but not stolen.

Tony Walsh, of the Ribble Valley police neighbourhood team, said: “An electric fence energiser was cut from its mountings and stolen along with two heavy duty vehicle batteries being removed from a couple of vehicle engine compartments in the yard area, one being a Daihatsu 4x4 and the other a dumper truck.

“Also stolen was a Stihl Strimmer.
