Store wars on the cards?

14/ 5/2008

STORE wars may soon break out in Accrington.

Bosses at the Arndale Centre revealed this week that supermarket giant Sainsbury’s is considering submitting an application for an 80,000 sq ft store at the rear of the shopping complex.

A spokeswoman for Sainsbury’s confirmed it is looking at the site but stressed it is one of several options it is considering for a possible outlet in Hyndburn.

Why does'nt the council allow both supermarkets to build as seen as we don't have them in our town, which makes us lot travel elsewhere. E.g Let Tesco build their mini store across Iceland using the three empty buildings which were Stationary box, Allsports and Rayman gifts. (Just like in Blackburn which is next to Greggs bakery.) With Sainsburies extending the Arndale to accomadate their own store.
