A car has collided with a wall in Accrington.

The Vauxhall Corsa hit the wall outside the Accrington Probation Office on Burnley Road and landed on its side.

Emergency services were called to the scene just before 9am this morning and police temporarily closed off one of the lanes so the car could be recovered.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said no injuries were reported and it is unknown how the collision happened.

The incident caused traffic problems for more than one hour heading to and from Accrington town centre before the car was cleared.

Paul Draper, 54, of Burnley Road, said he was 'shocked' to see the crash.

He said: “I had walked up to the garage and then when I came back down a few minutes later the car was there on it's side.

“I didn't see what happened but it's smashed right into the wall.

“It's a bit of a lucky escape and somebody could have been really hurt.”
