Officers investigating an assault on two twins have released CCTV footage of a man and woman who they would like to trace in connection with the incident.

The assault on the 28-year-old men happened on Glebe Street at the junction with Queen Street in Great Harwood at around 4am on Saturday, August 22.

One of the brothers was initially approached by a man who knocked him to the floor and is thought to have kicked and stamped on his head.

He was then joined by a woman moments later who is also believed to have kicked the victim numerous times in the head.

He suffered bruising and facial injuries as a result of the assault.

The other brother tried to intervene and was subsequently punched in the face knocking him to the ground as well, resulting in a fractured cheekbone.

DC Greenwood, of Blackburn CID, said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on the brothers and we are determined to identify those responsible. A 34 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed until October 8 pending further enquiries.
