A General practice surgery in Church has been awarded the prestigious Quality Practice Award from the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).

Dr Bello’s and Dill Hall Surgery on Church Street is the first in Hyndburn to receive the accolade, which lasts for five years.

The Quality Practice Award (QPA) is the highest award attainable from the Royal College of Genearl Practictioners which aims to recognise practice teams that have demonstrated ‘clinical and organisational excellent practice’ in the delivery of primary care.

Surgery GP Dr Bello said: “Church is quite a deprived area.

“We feel the award matters because it is recognition of all the hard work and quality we put into all of our patient care.”

The clinic applied for the award last year and worked over ten months submitting written evidence to the RCGP before having their final inspection on 1 October. An assessment team visited the practice over a full day to assess their practice and patient care.

Six modules were assessed looking at aspects of care ranging from management of illness to learning organisation, the skills of the provider team and special groups.
