The director of a nursery club in Accrington has praised her staff after the club was given a ‘good’ rating by inspectors.

The Squirrel Club, on Royds Street in Accrington, was praised by Ofsted for its good and outstanding practices.

The glowing report highlighted the performance of staff, stating they were ‘good role models who treat children with kindness and respect’.

Karen Coffey, director of the Squirrel Club, said: “We are all very pleased with what came up in the Ofsted report. It reflects the dedication and the commitment of all the staff working with the children. They have all worked really hard.

“You don’t get two good reports in a row if you haven’t got good staff. The criteria has risen but the inspector said the environment that we provide with Squirrel is outstanding, and that we are ‘good, good’. Hopefully next time we’ll become outstanding.”

The Squirrel Club provides pre-school education for children aged two to four years.

Inspector Donna Birch said the nursery club needed to secure one-to-one time with key children and allow them to follow their own ideas to achieve outstanding status.
