A family has paid tribute to a father-of-two who died after a road crash.

Paul Hart, 49, was driving a blue Fiat Stilo car when it collided with a lamp post on a roundabout between Grange Street and Church Street in Clayton-le-Moors on February 20.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment but later died on Wednesday, February 24.

David Hargreaves, 49, who was a passenger in the car and a friend of Paul’s, suffered serious injuries during the collision and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains.

Paul, who worked at Tufting machinery Services in Huncoat, leaves wife Jeanette and their two children Sadie, 23 and Jake, 25.

He was well known in the Clayton-le-Moors area and worked with his father as a turner.

Paul’s parents, Sheila and Christopher Hart, also from Clayton-le-Moors, said they have been left devastated by the tragic loss of their son.

Christopher said: “I saw Paul come into this world and then saw him go out.”

Paul attended St Mary’s primary school in Clayton-le-Moors and was part of the first intake of pupils at Mount Carmel High School in Accrington.

He was employed in engineering all his working life and served his apprenticeship at Precision Engineering in Rishton before moving to G.T. Supplies.

In his younger years Paul played pool for the Odd Fellows pub and snooker for the Come and Welcome Club in Clayton-le-Moors.
