Firefighters raced to a blaze at a chippy in Oswaldtwistle after fears that a person was trapped inside.

Two crews from Hyndburn Fire Station, as well as a crew from Burnley and aerial ladder from Preston, attended the scene at a fish and chip shop on Moscow Mill Street at around 5.30pm on Monday, November 7.

They searched for a person who was believed to be inside the shop at the time, but luckily they had managed to escape the blaze.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have started at the chip range.

A spokesperson for Hyndburn fire station said: “Initially it was thought that a occupant was still inside the building, but after a thorough search the occupant was found to have exited the building through the rear door.”
