A man was advised not to burn rubbish in his back garden following a fire in Accrington.

Black smoke was seen coming from a house in Accrington.

When firefighters arrived on Wordsworth Road, following a call from a concerned neighbour, they found a man burning a mattress and rubbish in his back garden.

Hyndburn Fire Station said crews put out the fire and gave advice to the man.

The incident happened shortly before 5pm on Wednesday, March 20.
