Four young geese have been rescued by firefighters after getting stuck down an embankment.

Crews from Hyndburn and a swift water rescue team from Darwen were called to an area near Hyndburn Road in Accrington at around 9pm on Wednesday, June 8.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The initial call stated that there were several goslings stuck down an embankment with the mother goose in some distress up the other side.

“Swift water rescue operatives were able to locate and rescue four goslings from the waterway.

“They also searched further down the waterway to see if there were any further goslings that needed assistance.”
