Thousands of people enjoyed cattle parades, strongmen and knightly jousting at this year’s Great Harwood Agricultural Show.

Bank Holiday Monday’s annual event at The New Showfield is one of the biggest in Hyndburn’s annual calendar and also one of the last remaining shows of its kind in the region.

Families and children enjoyed performances from the Accrington Pipe band, a Young Cattle Parade, the Rapid Raptops Birds of Prey and mixed dog demonstrations from the Reiver Rebels Flyball Team and Mellor Dog School, featuring more than 400 dogs.

One of the most popular attractions on the main arena was the jousting and knightly event The Knights of the Damned, which were back this year by popular demand.

Also returning for a third successive year was the British Strongman Competition and dozens of keen runners took part in the annual Bowley Hill Race.

A community marquee was also set up to showcase local groups and organisations and host competitions for children.

These were judged by West End actor and author of the Scream Street series of children’s books Tommy Donbavand.
