Pupils in Accrington have been getting into the General Election spirit by holding their own ballot.

Hollins Technology College in Accrington opened their very own polling station in school for students to vote.

Sarah Ginn, of the school, said: “The year eights have been learning about the political process in citizenship classes for two weeks of this term.

“They have read the manifestos from the main parties, and some pupils have met some MPs at St Augustines school.

“They have taken to the polls today just like the real General Election and a polling station has been set up in school reception.

“The votes will be counted towards local and national youth parliament mock elections.”
