Female boxing hope Bria Fielding picked up a few tips from Olympian Natasha Jonas when she visited Accrington Academy.

Bria, of Howarth Avenue, Church, has been tipped for the top after landing a medal in a prestigious international women’s boxing tournament earlier this year.

The Academy pupil met up with Natasha on Wednesday as part of Sky Sports’ ‘Living for Sport’ programme, of which she is an Athlete Mentor.

Natasha won the gold medal at the European Union Championships in 2009 and became the first ever woman to box for Great Britain in 2012.

Year 11 student Bria recently returned from Serbia where she represented England in the 4th Nations Cup, a European International Women’s boxing tournament.

Bria, 16, said it was a ‘fantastic opportunity’ to listen and lean from Natasha’s experiences in the ring and will help with her boxing ambitions.

She said: “It was a really exciting experience and fantastic to have the opportunity of a one-on-one session with an Olympic boxer.

“Natasha gave me some good tips on the new scoring system.”
