A couple had the best start to the New Year possible – with the arrival of their baby daughter.

Little Eleanor Heginbotham was expected to arrive on December 23 – but apparently, no-one had told her that.

Instead, she arrived nine days later, on January 1 at 2.41am weighing a healthy 7lbs 10oz, at the Blackburn Birth Centre.

She lives on Belthorn Road, Belthorn, with her parents Gemma, a doctor and Andrew, a roofer, and her sister Isabel who is 18 months old.

Gemma said: "Her sister was three days early, but she came late. She is doing fine.

"She is very good and has been very quiet – although having said that, she’ll start crying! I was quite surprised she came on New Year’s Day.

"I was expecting to go two weeks past December 23, so it was a nice surprise."
