Cases heard at Blackburn Magistrates Court:

  • Carl Poynton, 37, of Beech Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requirements of a community order. He was given an 18-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a £100 criminal courts charge.
  • William McCann, 44, of Rochdale Road, Shaw, pleaded guilty to trespass and theft at Metalcraft Plastic Coatings in Accrington. He was given an 18-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months.
  • Farakh Khalid, 27, of Whalley Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place and possessing cannabis. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge, fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £180 criminal courts charge.
  • Naeem Khan, 32, of Blackburn Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis as part of an investigation. He was given a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, 200 hours’ unpaid work, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge and was disqualified from driving for 48 months.
  • Thomas McDonagh, 21, of Lord Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to stealing power tools, obstructing a police constable in the execution of his duty, using a car without insurance and driving without a licence. He was jailed for six weeks, ordered to pay a £180 criminal courts charge and disqualified from driving for three months.
  • Lawrence Armstrong, 58, of Badge Brow, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was given an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £150 criminal courts charge.
  • Paul Mark Lomax, 36, of Washington Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order. He was jailed for six weeks and ordered to pay a £180 criminal courts charge.
  • Grant Michael Turner, 23, of Lemonius Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was given a three-week community order with a curfew requirement and ordered to pay £204 compensation, £150 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.
  • Mark James Ackers, 31, of Walmsley Avenue, Rishton, was found guilty of assault by beating. He was given a 12-month community order with a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement, a 12-month restraining order, and ordered to pay £100 compensation, £620 costs and a £520 criminal courts charge.
  • Mary Louise Smith, 39, of Meadow Street, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requirements of a community order. She was fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 costs.

Cases heard at Burnley Magistrates Court:

  • Paul Richard Starkie, 52, of Ashley Court, Accrington, pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £85 costs and given three points on his driving licence.
  • Nicholas John Wilson, 41, of Spring Meadows, Clayton-le-Moors, was found
    guilty in his absence of failing to comply
    with a council notice regarding the accumulation of waste in a rear yard. He was fined £660 and ordered to pay £75 compensation, £150 costs and a £150 criminal courts
    charge.
