Talented swimmers at Great Harwood Otters have received awards for their successes at the club’s annual presentation night.

More than 50 Otter swimmers and parents gathered at Great Harwood Cricket Club to watch and applaud their achievements over the past season.

Head coach Derrick Miller handed out more than a dozen awards to swimmers who excelled throughout the year.

Mr Miller said he was ‘delighted’ with the swimmers’ positive training attitude.

The Otters have enjoyed a very busy year with many internal galas, and trophies were awarded to swimmers who came in the top three during the competitions. The presentation night also saw a number of ‘special awards’ given out including the Allan and Ann Maddoc Novice Shield which went to Jodie Hogarth and Onassis Smith.

The FJ Neale trophy for endeavour went to Alisha Sanderson and Dylan Houghton while the coaches’ award based on commitment and attitude went to Emily Thomas and Sam Callaghan.

Merit awards were handed to Elisha Charnley of the Cubs, Mae Anderson of 1st Group and Emma Guilfoyle of Top Group.

Mille Walmsley received the Top Girl Cubs award while Logan Grimshaw took the Top Boy Cubs award. The club, based at Mercer Hall Leisure Centre, is also looking for new members. It trains on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm. Call Joyce Miller on 01254 844247.
