TWO hundred bikers from across the region roared into Accrington for the town’s ninth annual charity bike show, organised by Accrington Motorcycle Club.

The day exceeded expectations as the forecast rain thankfully held off.

Prizes were given to the best-looking vintage and classic machines and there was entertainment from a rock DJ.

The event, held at the back of the Hope and Anchor and in the Cobden Street yard behind the Arndale Centre, raised £195 for the Accrington Pals Memorial Chapel appeal.

Club vice-chairman Geoff Ashworth said: "It went very well considering we thought the weather was going to be really bad.

"We had about 200 bikers coming along, though not all of them entered the show. We had a turnout for every section of the show, including bikes, trikes and scooters, prizes for each category and a special prize for the best in show.

"They come from Yorkshire, Merseyside, Cheshire and all over the North West. It’s a get-together for all the different bike clubs in the area."

The best-in-show prize was given to a "Blue Bug Reliant’’ with Jag back axle, all hand-engineered by the owner.
