She's one brave little girl – and now she’s got a smile back on her face.

Courtney Bradshaw, of Charter Street, Accrington, suffered severe facial injuries when she was attacked by a dog back in June.

The five-year-old was mauled by the bull terrier cross as she played in a friend’s bedroom and was left with deep cuts and lacerations to her face, head and back.

But now her amazing recovery has been rewarded with a trip to Blackpool.

PC Anthony Blezard organised the trip for Courtney and her family.

He was first on the scene after the attack and described her injuries as the worst thing he had ever seen.

He said: "She’s made an incredible recovery, she’s such a fighter. This was the least we could do for her."

PC Blezard was a regular visitor to Courtney while she was in hospital and he was only too happy to arrange her treat.

He said: "Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Northern Rail were more than happy to donate the free tickets and we had a collection to give Courtney some spending money while she’s there.

"She’s such a happy little girl, she’s an inspiration to us all."
