POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an Accrington chef was attacked on his way home from work.

Michael Lucas, 43, a chef at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors, was walking home on Monday 12 November at around 10.40pm when the attack took place.

He was walking along Spring Hill Road, Accrington, when he was approached by two men who kicked him in the stomach and attempted to hit him about the head.

The offenders fled once the victim fell to the floor.

A police investigation is underway urging anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Zoe Russo said: “I appeal to anyone with information about the attack, and in particularly a lone female who was driving along Spring Hill Road at the time in a small red car.

“This witness may hold vital information about the attack.”
