The consequences of playing with fireworks will be highlighted to teenagers in Baxenden next week.

A PACT meeting headed up by police and fire officials is taking place at Hollins Technology College next Thursday, October 18.

The team will be on hand to offer information and advice as part of a drive to reduce nuisance and injury caused by fireworks.

The action comes after local residents reported concerns about young people setting off fireworks in the area.

PCSO for Baxenden Emma Lougheed said it is important children understand the danger of fireworks.

She added: "We will be working with the fire service and local authorities to reduce the nuisance caused by fireworks and to make sure people remain safe.

"I appeal to anyone with information about these incidents to contact us. I am particularly keen to find out where the children are getting these fireworks from."

The meeting takes place on Hollins Lane between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
