Stunned commuters were delayed for almost an hour after a deer ran out in front of a car.

Lancashire Police said the deer ran out onto Hyndburn Road between Clayton-le-Moors and Great Harwood and hit the bus.

A spokesperson said: “The deer was injured and distressed. The driver stopped so the traffic wouldn't hit the deer.

“It is not clear if the deer has died from it's injuries or was put down.”

The incident happened at around 6.30am on Wednesday, May 7.

Traffic along Whalley Road was partially blocked and slow in both directions for around 40 minutes.
