HENRIETTA the hen is clucking for joy after adopting four fluffy little ducklings at a day nursery.

Children at Little Cheeky Monkeys in Edward Street, Great Harwood ,welcomed the new additions, which hatched last Wednesday, just in time for Easter.

The eggs were laid by one of three ducks at a neighbouring farm but were abandoned shortly afterwards.

Luckily, Henrietta the hen was happy to keep them warm until they hatched. Now she has taken them under her wing and is introducing them to the nursery tots.

Nursery manager Gillian Smith said: "Unfortunately mummy duck abandoned her babies but Henrietta stepped in and is now the proud foster mother of four. The children have loved it."

Tots at the nursery this week named the ducklings Quackers, Donald, Daffy and Dippy.
