A FORMER headteacher of St John’s Primary School has pledged his support to the appeal.

Frank Hodgkinson, 75, who now lives in Garstang, was head of the school for 14 years between 1981 and 1995.

He has stayed in touch with friends in Accrington and it was through them he heard about the closure of the church.

He said: “It’s extremely sad but it is great that something is being done about it and I would urge everyone to support the appeal.”
