AN ACCRINGTON family have spoken of their fears for their soldier son after war broke out in Iraq.
Steven Dixon, 22, of Bold Street, Accrington, has been stationed in Kuwait as a lance bombardier with the Royal Artillery in preparation for the war.
And his stepmother Katherine Dixon, who is married to Steven's father, Richard, said that the family was hoping for his safe return.
Katherine, a beauty consultant, said that Steven had been writing home regularly, although they hadn't heard from him since the war started. It is thought he is working at a prisoner-of-war camp.
She said: "I can't imagine what it is like out there. We just want to hear from him because he hasn't contacted us for a while. But he is a good lad.
"His dad is really anxious - as soon as he gets home from work he is glued to the television for news. It is such a worry for him.''
