A brave youngster who has spent his life defying expectations will be the guest of honour and light a bonfire this Guy Fawkes weekend.

Three-year-old Finley Rosbotham, who has Cerebral Palsy and brain damage, will light the fire in front of around 4,000 people at Accrington Cricket Club on Saturday.

The youngster, along with his twin sister Ellie and older siblings Paige and Mackenzie, will kick off the celebrations at 7pm.

The event is being organised by the Rotaract Club of Hyndburn, which has made our Finley’s Friends Appeal one of its official charities for the year.

Mum Kelly said she was thrilled with the support.

She said: “I’m delighted with how the appeal is going, Finley is in so much demand.

“We’re having to juggle it all around his hospital visits and nursery.”

There will also be a firework display beginning at 7.30pm.

On Monday Finley opened the new offices of Max Cabs on Ranger Street in exchange for a £1,000 donation to our appeal.

Noddy Baxter from the company, who also recorded a song for Finley, said they were keen to help such a worthy local cause.

He said: “We're really pleased to be able to help, we had a big cheque made for it as well.”

He added that he had known Alfie Hamer's mum Michelle, who appeared in the Observer speaking about her experiences at Holly House, for several years and that was part of the reason he wanted to help.

And the good news keeps on coming with a £360 donation from Bedfords Market Stall in Blackburn.

Kelly added that everyone had been incredibly generous so far and urged people to keep supporting our appeal.
