We've had more fantastic donations for our Finley’s Friends Appeal, and are now in the home straight as we approach our ambitious target.

The Observer is aiming to raise £20,000 for Holly House Specialist Child Development Centre in Accrington.

Our total is up to an incredible £15,808 meaning we’re well over three-quarters of the way to hitting our goal. St Leonard’s Langho scout group and their families walked from Whalley to Bowley Scout camp in Great Harwood.

The walkers paid £2.50 each and beaver leader Lynne Harrison said the walk had gone well.

She said: “We have a cub scout Luke Stansfield who is visually impaired and was recently presented with the Pride of Lancashire Award.

He is an example to the group and he has attended Holly House.” The group raised £155.80 for the appeal.

Other donations over recent weeks include £200 from Bedfords Market Stall at Blackburn Market who have donated £200, £50 from Accrington Stanley Supporters Club, £500 from RCT Developments, £200 from Marie Eastwood as well as £388.74 from Mrs Carswell in memory of her mother.

Staff at Holly House are urging more people to join the campaign but are also asking anyone who has pledged money but not yet sent it in to do so as soon as possible.
