Former Accrington nightclub Churchills has caught fire after a blaze in an outhouse spread to the main building.

The nightclub, based in the old Accrington Conservative Club on Cannon Street, suffered minor damage during the incident on Sunday.

Fifteen firefighters attended the scene using breathing apparatus and hose reels to put out the fire to the outhouse which suffered heavy damage to the roof.

The blaze also damaged some of the nightclubs windows after the frames caught on fire.

The three fire teams from Accrington and Great Harwood tackled the blaze for over an hour before it was eventually put out.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
