Natural beauty spots will be well cared-for in Hyndburn thanks to a cash boost of £9,600.

The council has set aside the sum to help look after beauty spots across the borough, such as Jackhouse reservoirs above Oswaldtwistle.

Councillor Brian Roberts said: ""The council recognises the importance of caring for our natural green spaces.

"So, this year's budget allocates £9,600 to improve the management of some of these green spaces, enhancing their natural value and making opportunities available for local people to enjoy and get involved in interesting activities. "

Councillor Kath Pratt said: "Many of these sites are beautiful places, not far from town, where local people can walk and enjoy the tranquillity, places like Jackhouse reservoirs on the hillside above Oswaldtwistle or a stretch of the canal as it flows through Church.

"There are ancient woodlands, grasslands, marshes, moorland peat and even some things once derelict like disused railway lines or quarries which are now abundant with wildlife."
